English Version
1. Game Overview
Monopoly Deal is a fast-paced card game derived from the classic board game Monopoly. Instead of building up wealth until others go bankrupt, the goal is to collect three full property sets of different colours. Players draw, bank money, build property sets, and use action cards to collect rent, steal, and disrupt opponents.
It supports 2-5 players (and more if combining decks). Playtime is approximately 15 minutes.
2. Components
The deck typically includes:
-
Property cards (different colour groups)
-
Wild property cards (multi-colour or dual-colour)
-
Money cards (various denominations)
-
Action cards (Rent, Deal Breaker, Sly Deal, Forced Deal, Debt Collector, Just Say No, etc.)
3. Setup
-
Remove the 4 Quick-Start Rules cards and give each player one for reference.
-
Shuffle the rest of the deck and deal 5 cards to each player (face down). Each player keeps their hand secret.
-
Place the remaining deck face down in the center as the draw pile.
-
Determine who plays first and proceed clockwise.
4. Game Play
On your turn you do the following:
-
Draw cards: Draw 2 cards from the draw pile. If you have zero cards at the start of your turn, draw 5 instead.
-
Play up to 3 cards: You may play up to three cards from your hand. Each card play can be one of:
-
Put a money card (or action card used as money) into your bank.
-
Place a property card into your property area to build towards a set.
-
Play an action card from hand and follow its effect, or place it in your bank (if it has a money value) instead of using its action.
-
-
End of turn: If your hand has more than 7 cards at the end of your turn, you must discard down to 7.
Banking & Payments
-
Your bank is where you place money cards (and eligible action cards) to use later for paying rent or debts.
-
When you owe rent or another payment, you must pay with cards from your bank and/or property area (not from your hand). You choose what to pay with.
-
No change is given — if you overpay, the excess is just lost.
5. Property Sets & Winning
-
Each colour group has a defined number of cards required to complete the set (e.g., dark blue may require 2 cards).
-
When you have laid out three full property sets of three different colours, you win the game.
-
You may rearrange wild property cards during your turn to adjust colours.
6. Action Cards & Effects
Some key action cards:
-
Deal Breaker: Steal a full property set from another player.
-
Sly Deal: Take one property card (but not a full set) from another player.
-
Forced Deal: Swap a property card with another player.
-
Rent cards: Charge rent on your property sets (may be combined with “Double Rent” card)
-
Just Say No: Cancel another player’s action card that targets you.
7. Tips & Notes
-
Secure your bank early: money in the bank protects you from rent actions by opponents.
-
Use wild property cards strategically: you can shift them between colour groups to optimize or to avoid being targeted.
-
Beat your opponents to full sets, but be wary: building a full set may make you a target for a “Deal Breaker”.
-
The game is quick but strategic: knowing when to play action cards, when to bank money, and how to block opponents matters.
